Wrestlers in US History

Some people don't like wrestling; some still refuse to acknowledge it as a legitimate sport. The key to understanding wrestling may not be viewing it as a competition alone, but by appreciating two things:

1/ the difference between the sport of wrestling and wrestling shows

2/ the philosophy behind wrestling which is a part of every wrestler's training

Wrestling isn't about indiscriminate violence and senseless destruction. Real wrestling inspires and develops the best in men. Did you know that we have a number of wrestlers in US history OUTSIDE of the sport itself?

Great presidents such as Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Ulysses S. Grant (I'm mentioning only 3 among the 13 American presidents with wrestling training) succeeded and were recognized as honorable leaders in part because of the ethics, discipline, character, analytical thinking and strategic skills wrestling taught them.

Are there any wrestlers in US history - actively shaping US history - today? You bet! Ever heard of of John McCain, Howard Dean, Donald Rumsfeld, or Jesse "The Body" Ventura?...

Of course, there were - and are! - other US wrestlers who have made significant contributions outside of politics as well.... This comes to show that a wrestling training can be an asset not only in high school or college but that the lessons it teaches can be applied to build a successful life and career later on.
